Alan Jones
“My father did not talk much about his experiences in the war. After returning home, he returned to the private workforce. He still felt the call to serve his adopted country, however, and he returned to the U.S. Army, serving for another 25 years.
My father instilled in me a sense of pride in my country, and a deep respect for all who have served in the military.”
– Daniel Jones, External Relations and Events Associate, Graduate School
Alan Jones, remembered by his son, Daniel Jones

Alan Jones was originally from England, but moved to the United States when he was very young. During the war, he was stationed in England, which was a sort of homecoming for him.
My father was a ball turret gunner on a B-17 Flying Fortress. He flew missions over Europe. He was shot down during one of his missions, something that he did not like to talk about.
